PAUL Shanley hopes his new-look squad are starting to find their feet as they stormed into FA Cup first round qualifying by putting Sydenhams League side Christchurch to the sword 6-3 on Saturday.

Bradford blitzed their Dorset visitors with a four-goal blast in the opening 45 minutes at Trowbridge Road and, despite a lapse early in the second half, rounded the job off to set up an enticing tie against Southern League Hungerford Town.

Shanley, whose side have scored 10 goals in the last two matches since the 5-0 league thrashing by Bristol Manor Farm, said: "We brought six or seven players in this season and it's taken a bit of time to get the players settled.

"It was a very comfortable match and we were four up by half time.

"We switched off for 10 minutes in the second half but we kept going and created a bucketful of chances. It could have been double figures and it sets up a nice game against Hungerford that we can have a go at.''

The opening quarter was goalless but on 25 minutes, Michael Rimmer's cross was finished by Neikell Plummer to put Shanley's side in front.

Five minutes later it was two as Mark Wall's effort found the net.

Tyson Pollard found his range from 20 yards to make it 3-0 and when Aaron Wilson was felled in the penalty area on the stroke of half time, Plummer made Christchurch pay as he netted from the penalty spot.

Christchurch reignited their interest in the tie in the early stages of the second period as Nathan Saxby struck before Mark Smith netted three minutes later to halve the deficit.

But shortly after the hour mark Bradford were back on the goal trail as Michael Jones found the net after a corner move.

Sam Jordan settled matters 10 minutes later to bring up the half dozen before the visitors earned a late penalty consolation.

Bradford return to league action this weekend, with Toolstation League Premier Division pacesetters Buckland Athletic the visitors.

Shanley added: "They're leading the way at the top and that's going to be a very tough game for us.''
