THERE were a number of shocks in the preliminary round of A M Print & Copy-sponsored Knockout Cup with second division sides FC Bradford and Christian Malford claiming scalps of top flight sides Westbury Rangers and Goatacre CC FC.

A first-half goal from Harry Fenwick earned Malford their upset, while a Jimmy Meade double and goals from Ashley Styles and Mark Maguire saw Bradford defeat Rangers 4-1, Marc Lanfear with the reply.

Kieron Gleed, a Evander Sampson own goal, Tom Sigee and Billy Gleed shared the goals that gave first division Bremhill View a 4-0 victory over third division outfit Evana Designs.

The all-first division affair between Calne BFC and Miller Sports A saw the former triumph. Dave Herring, Aaron Clegg and two from Stuart Windsor helped Calne to a 4-1 win. Adam Walsh replied.

Top flight Potterne CFC had to overcome a determined Corsham Oak side before claiming a 3-0 win. Neil Clark put Potterne ahead and two goals in last three minutes from Ben House (penalty) and Tom Lye won it for the villagers.

Lavington Rangers defeated second division stablemates The Mallard FC 7-3. Liam Kennedy netted three, James Squire twice with a goal each from Ashley Edwards and Jamie Hall making up the seven. Martin Anderson, Jason Hudson and Andy Adams found the net for the Mallard.

Second division Miller Sports B suffered a 10-2 mauling at home to third division Westbury Conservative Club. Ryan Underwood bagged five, Scott Ball two and a goal each for Shaun Kent, Owen Hunter and Rob Pearce made up the double figures. Brandan Knight and Nathan Drew scored for Miller.

First division North Star avoided a potential upset at second division Old Road FC, Mickey Traskevics, Declan Blandford and Jason Povey, on his debut for the Star, sharing their goals in a 3-0 win.

Third division Fox & Hounds lost 10-3 to Premier Division pacesetters The Pack Horse. Adam O’Keeffe (4), Jamie Treweke (3), Craig Fisher, Zac Klukowski and Ben Pring from the spot were on target for Horse. Jayson Stokes (2) and Jake Mansbridge got the consolations.

First division Rowdy Cow Rowde crashed out after losing out 4-3 in a penalty shootout at home to FC Lacock after a 5-5 draw.

Ryan Ross hit four for Lacock as did Bradley Whitbread for Rowde. Rory Davis (Lacock) and Jamie Wallen (Rowde) added the other before penalties from Ross, Ryan Banks, Jack Woolsgrove and Kalif Barnes Lacock claimed the notable scalp of a Rowdy Cow side.

Premier DivisionWhite Horse A overcame a spirited performance from Division Two’s Sutton Benger, eventually running out 9-3 winners. Nathan Todd and Ben Butterfield with two found the net for Benger. Natti Morgan and Dale Rowland scored four apiece and Jordan Gullis once for the victors.

Third division Warminster Wanderers conceded six goals at home to first division Somerford FC. Chris Cox and Ashley Monaghan scoring in the first half. Further goals for Cox and Monaghan along with efforts from Rob Manning and Matt Spear made up the villagers’ half dozen.
