A DEPLETED Corsham Centre Youth could only raise 12 fit players for the Wiltshire Junior Cup game against top Swindon League FC Walcot.

Centre, who were beaten 4-0, were indebted to keeper Nick Gingell for a number of fine saves. Things went from bad to worse when Centre lost Stuart Tutty on 20 minutes due to a head wound that required hospital attention.

James Whitehead came on and acquitted himself very well. On 30 minutes a direct free kick was pushed onto the post by keeper Gingell but Levi Cox was on hand to tap it in.

Centre then rallied and Josh Bright was unlucky when he broke clear, The second half saw the Centre battle for every ball.

On 60 minutes Centre’s Dave Leask had to leave the field with a hamstring injury. The ten men battled on but Walcot got a second.

To compound issues Adam Shipman was given a second yellow for an innocuous tackle which left the Centre with nine men. They battled valiantly and Walcot were reduced to 10 when the ref issued a straight red on 75 minutes.

Simon Gray, who battled tirelessly in midfield, put in a delightful cross which Josh Bright got his head to but saw it well saved.

To their credit the nine men battled on, but it was not to be their day as two goals in the last four minutes made the final score 4-0 in favour of Walcot.
