NICK Bunyard says that his resurgent Frome Town have met the challenges laid at their feet but the Robins boss thinks that his team could easily have even more to show for their recent efforts.

After holding high-flying Leamington to a goalless draw at Badgers Hill on Saturday, Frome then beat south west rivals Cirencester Town 3-2 on Wednesday night to stretch their unbeaten run to four matches.

“The performance level has been very high since I’ve been at the club,” said Bunyard.

“Before the Chippenham game (a 1-1 draw on September 29), Chippenham were top, Leamington were second and Cirencester were third.

“We set a target of four to six points and we got five, so that’s a good return, but I think we could have beaten Leamington. There are a few games that we’ve drawn that we should have got wins from.”

Liam Monelle and Kris Miller netted either side of Connor Thompson as Frome led Cirencester 2-1 at the break before Lewis Haldane backheeled in his first goal of the season, with the visitors’ Adam Connolly firing in a late consolation effort.

Dual-registered Gloucester City man Chris Knowles featured against Leamington and Cirencester but Bunyard expects the defender to be needed by his parent club from now on.

The Robins have also recently added full-back Jordan Walker from Paulton whilst Hartpury College youngster Stuart Dickin made his Frome debut on Wednesday. But former Torquay United man Kirtys Mackenzie has been let go, with the player’s commute from London proving too much of a worry for chief Bunyard.

“It was great to see Lewis Haldane score a great goal because he’s had a few injuries and he’s worked really hard to get himself fit,” said the Robins manager.

“Stuart Dickin is a young lad and deserves a special mention too for doing so well against some really experienced strikers.”
