PREMIER Division leaders Goatacre dropped two points in their quest to wrestle the title from current incumbents Corsham CC Wildcats when the teams clashed in awful conditions at Combe Lane.

Goatacre found themsleves 2-0 down to a Wildcats side who looked to get back to winning ways after last week's defeat to Cons FC, goals from Adam Mitchell and Dan Sibley seemingly putting them in charge.

Tom Boakes gave the home team a lifeline prior to the break.

Wildcats, thanks to a second from Sibley reclaimed a two-goal cushion, but thanks to a spirited fightback Matt Morgan halved the deficit and Dale Wood netted their equaliser with 20 minutes remaining to earn his team a 3-3 draw.

For the first 45 minutes of their match with basement side Melksham Cosmos, high-flying Castle FC who led 3-2 knew they were in a contest.

However after the break Nathan Emm’s side ran riot as they hit seven unanswered goals to run out 10-2 victors.

Ashley Barnett gave Cosmos the lead which was cancelled out by Matt Tilley. Rob Mitchell put Castle 2-1 up before Shaun Jenkins restored parity for Cosmos who then fell 3-2 behind when Marcus Wallen netted for the home team.

The second half was one sided with Jamie Walters scoring four, Rob Mitchell added a further two to complete his hat-trick, player-manager Emm’s single made up the 10.

With Westbury Rangers unable to use Meadow Lane they switched their fixture to home of opponents AFC Melksham and may well wished they hadn’t as Shaun Gardiner’s team could only muster 10 players for their trip to Christie Miller.

Still, they only suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Mike Rogers' side. Callum Demkiv and two goals from Kurt James - his first-ever goals for the club - sealed Melksham’s win.
