WITH Division Two leaders The Grapes United in Knockout Cup action, courtesy of a 3-0 victory over FC Lacock Lavington Rangers moved to 18 points and claimed a share of the number one spot.

After a goalless first half, Ali Bradley’s penalty put Lavington in front, Lee Martin headed home to make it 2-0 and goal keeper Thomas North wrapped up the points for Pete Drew’s side when he beat his opposite number with a goal kick.

Joe Masson and Andy Woods may have scored the goals that earned Corsham Oak a 2-1 win over Christian Malford, but their star man was goalkeeper Dave Cardus, who produced a stunning second-half display to help his team deny Malford what would have been a deserved point.

Eddie Stephenson scored his first Malford goal but it wasn’t enough as Cardus was brilliant to deny the villagers an equaliser.

After seeing their promotion hopes derailed in recent weeks FC Bradford will have been pleased to end a three-match winless run with a 3-1 triumph away at The Mallard who they had already beaten 4-0 this term.

Harry Hamlin set up Mike Evans for Bradford’s opener with Evans volleying home from a corner. Jimmy Meade made it 2-0 with an assist from Damien Moran and although Jason Hudson pulled a goal back for the Mallard it wasn’t enough as Aaron Thornton scored with 10 minutes remaining to seal Bradford the win.
