DEREK Graham admitted Warminster Town got exactly what they deserved as they wilted 3-0 at home to lowly Division One side Wincanton Town on Wednesday night.

The match was just Warminster's second since Boxing Day and their ring rust was evident as Gary Chapman, Toby Cole and a Dan Wise penalty inflicted the agony at Weymouth Street.

There was more bad news for the hosts as they also finished the game with 10 men when goalkeeper Callum Hotine was sent off for a foul that led to the spot-kick.

"The pitch wasn’t very good but it’s the same for both sides so you can’t use that as an excuse. We’ve had a lot of rain and it just hasn’t had the chance to recover," said Graham.

"One thing about us is that we do try to play football but this was a game where we said: 'don’t try to do too much', but we did and we got caught and gave sloppy goals away.

"They scored an early goal from a deflection then the second came from our corner where they broke and scored and when stuff like that happens you know it’s not going to be your day.

"We were all a bit despondent afterwards really and it was a bad day all round, we just didn’t turn up. It was one of those games where you think I wish I hadn’t bothered.

"We didn’t perform at all and I’d like to apologise to the supporters who came as there wasn’t anything for them worth seeing."

Warminster are in Les Phillips Cup action on Saturday and entertain Cheddar.
