FROME Town boss Nick Bunyard knows it is important for his players to remain positive between now and the end of the season.

Connor Gudger opened the scoring in the 63rd minute when he was allowed too much time on the edge of the box and beat Darren Chitty with a lobbed effort and Ben Mackey finished well to put the game to bed.

“That was the difference between the two sides on the day,” said Bunyard, who was without Mitchell Page for the game. “It is not a case of miles it is a case of a player here and there.

“Two tough trips to Cambridge and Leamington and not to come away with anything is disappointing. We’ve not had much go for us in terms of luck and personnel over the two games.

“Obviously we are in a massive dogfight. We are aware of the situation and we knew months ago it was likely to go right down to the end of the season.”

Frome’s game against Redditch United was called off on Monday night due to a waterlogged pitch which was a blessing for Bunyard who admitted they were massively struggling with availability.

However, with them now having six games in hand over Histon who sit a place above the drop zone, with just six points separating the two clubs, Bunyard knows they must make the most of the fixture pile-up.

“All we can do is not allow it to negatively affect our attitude or confidence going into each game,” he said.

“We’ll try to bring in a couple of players if we can. We have been looking for a recognised goal scorer who could come in and fire a few goals in for us and give everyone a boost.

“It is still in our hands, we still have games in hand over the teams around us and it is down to us to win some games.”
