DEFENDING Premier Division champions Corsham CC Wildcats moved up to second place thanks to their 7-3 win over Goatacre CC FC, whose second straight loss has ended any hopes they had of finishing top of the pile.

The Wildcats had the game won in the first 45 minutes as two goals apiece from Sam Jordan and Lewis McCarron and a goal each for Adam Mitchell and Darrin Moss helped them to a 6-1 lead. Ed Wilkins replied for Goatacre.

The second period may have seen the goals dry up, but McCarron scored another to complete his hat-trick. Wilkins also completed a three timer with a second-half brace.

Cons FC, who claimed a 6-2 win over Westbury Rangers the last time the teams met, saw the tables turned on them as Westbury picked up only their second win of the campaign thanks to a Lewis Birchall-inspired performance which helped his team claim a 5-3 win.

Goals from Birchall in the 23rd and 28th minutes put Westbury 2-0 up, Harry Myles reduced the arrears on 33 minutes and Chris Jenkins goal just before half time levelled matters for the Cons.

Ben Leslie ‘s 51st minute effort gave Cons the lead which didn’t last long as a third from Birchall made it 3-3 a few minutes later.

Marc Lanfear regained the lead for Rangers on 58 minutes and a fourth of the game from Birchall in the 75th minute capped an excellent personal performance and sealed Rangers' first win since they beat Melksham Cosmos on the opening day of the season.

Chippenham-based The Pack Horse may be down in fifth place but they have every chance of finishing in first place.

Tyrone Prades side know that for them to win the league they will have to win their remaining four matches after their 6-1 win over White Horse A and hope that their rivals slip up on the home run.

Jamie Treweke put Pack Horse in front from the penalty spot, Adam O’Keeffe made it 2-0 and Craig Fisher added a third before Ally Young pulled a goal back for White Horse.

O’Keeffe and Fisher added to their first-half efforts and a Ben Pring strike made up the winners' half dozen.
