The race for the runners-up spot in Division Three to The Dursley Arms is starting to heat up after both Semington and Westbury Conservative Club picked up maximum points from their respective Thursday night fixtures.

A 1-0 victory for Semington away at Calne United went some way to making up for their Knockout Cup final defeat at the weekend as it keeps them five points clear of their rivals, who have two games in hand but have still to play the Dursley Arms and Semington themselves this season.

Richard Allum’s goal a minute before half-time was his 16th of the season and proved to be the winner.

Westbury Cons, who are in third-place, boosted their goals for tally with an 8-0 win away at White Horse B.

Top-scorer Steve Ball gave his team a 1-0 interval lead. Ball then added another three in the second half to complete a 4-timer, which moves him to the top of the goal scoring charts.

Simon Kent, Owen Hunter, Ryan Underwood and Rob Pearce with his first goal of the season made up the eight.
