WARMINSTER bounced back from their opening day thumping at the hands of Rockhampton with victory in their first away trip of the season last weekend.

Tom Davie’s side, who picked up just a single point from their eight-wicket humbling by Rockhampton on May 7, steadied themselves by edging out Gloucester City Winget at the Spa Ground.

Warminster won the toss and put their opponents in to bat first, with Gloucester opener Richard Howell sticking around as he top-scored with 63, sharing partnerships with Jordan Rouse (20) and Sizwe Masondo (36) along the way.

Jack Cowles also chipped in with 45 but Rory Cullinan exerted some pressure as he took 3-32, with Winget posting 211-7.

Warminster narrowly reached their target as Andrew Green (3-38), as well as Alex Nel and Jack Cowles, who both took two wickets apiece, attempted to turn the screw.

But Jamaine Bullen led the way for the visitors with his knock of 56, whilst Nick Hembury (35) and Jack Berrisford (31) also chipped in to lead Warminster to 212-9 with less than two overs to go.

Davie’s men welcome Cheltenham to Sambourne Road on Saturday.
