CHIPPENHAM’S Adam Higgins has yet to decide whether he will contest all the remaining rounds of this year’s Formula Ford 1600 Championship at Castle Combe, despite taking an impressive third-place last time out.

The 29-year-old, who previously won the championship in 2013 and 2014, has already missed one round this year due to finances and work commitments but will be taking part in Bank Holiday Monday’s two Formula Ford races.

The Whitsun Race Day will take place on both Sunday (May 29) and Bank Holiday Monday (May 30), following the cancellation of Howard’s Day in March.

“I’m just going to take each race as it comes. I couldn’t afford to do other races this month but at the moment I’m not under any pressure,” said Higgins.

“I thoroughly enjoyed the last meeting at Castle Combe and I thought there were two races in a day so decided to enter, but I’m not thinking about the championship.

“I think I’m fourth in the standings after my dropped score so if it goes well then I might do more but I can’t afford to do anything else at the moment.

“Absolutely anything that we can get will be helpful, we’re not looking for £50,000, just a couple of hundred quid for an entry fee would help tenfold.

“What’s attracting me to Castle Combe this year is the amount of talent, there are seven or eight drivers that could win the championship and it’s the most competitive I’ve seen it for a few years. To race them is exciting.”
