WESTBURY began their home campaign in Dorset & Wilts Two North with a 29-17 triumph over Chippenham 3rd.

The home side, beaten 19-15 at Combe Down 2nd on the opening weekend of the season, made a poor start with Chippenham's slick running bringing them a converted try.

But the Westbury forwards began to get hold of the game and some crisp offloading saw flanker Logan Smith sprint through a gap and run in from the half way, fly-half Aaron Vaughan adding the conversion.

Chippenham regained the lead with a penalty but with both sides keen to play running rugby, it was the home team who put their fast hands into action first putting Ryan Knight through a hole in the defence for their second score.

Beginning to dominate across the pitch, the home side sent prop Reece Ball smashing his way through the Chippenham defence, Vaughan adding the extras.

However, their concentration dropped and a lapse in the defence saw Chippenham hit back with a converted try to cut the lead to two points.

A fine jinking solo run scrum-half James Catley-Day added another score for Westbury and they rounded off an excellent performance when centre, and stand-in fly-half Dan Gould ghosted through the defence to clinch the points.
