Nearly 200 runners lined up in warm conditions for the fourth running of the Melksham 10k.

From the start, Simon Nott, of Calne Running Club, broke away from the field and by the start of the second of the two flat fast laps around the town, had built up a significant lead over Mike Rose, of Avon Valley Runners, in second place and Daniel Giles, of Loughborough in third.

Nott came home to finish in a time of 32 minutes and 27 seconds, with 2014 winner, Mike Rose, breaking the 35-minute barrier for the first time, the runners-up position.

Stuart Henderson, of Team Bath, led club mates, Mike Dooley and Steve Hale to the men’s team title.

In the ladies’ race, Jacqueline Rockliffe continued her recent run of good form with an untroubled victory in 39:11 and along with Anita Mellodew and Juliet Coulson, landed the ladies team prize for Avon Valley Runners.

Denise Nott, of Calne Running Club, was second place and Jo Thompson, of Team Bath, third.

Age group prizes went to: 1st MV40 - Stuart Henderson of Team Bath AC; 1st MV50 - Mike Dooley of Team Bath AC; 1st MV60 - Anthony Sprules of Frome Running Club; 1st FV40 - Anita Mellodew of Avon Valley Runners; 1st FV50 - Linda Eastmond of Bideford AAC; 1st FV60 - Liz Jarvis.
