THE only fixture in Division Two at the weekend saw The Mallard take the points in a 5-2 away win at Stanley Park over Christian Malford and claim their first win of the season.

The game was very even until the 25th minute when Dave Lazenby got on the end of a through ball to slot the ball home and give Mallard a 1-0 lead.

Malford had a great chance to equalise when Ashley Fletcher beat two players but saw his shot cleared off the line.

Mallard increased their lead in the 35th minute when Jason Hudson lobbed the ball home for a 2-0 advantage.

Malford pulled a goal back in the 44th minute when Scott Evans scored after a headed pass from Eddie Stephenson.

Mallard took advantage of confusion in the Malford defence after 48 minutes when Jason Hudson scored his second to extend his team’s lead to 3-1.

Malford came back into the game and in the 77th minute halved the deficit through Rob Lowe.

Any hopes of a further Malford revival were killed off in the by a quick fire double from Jason Hudson that took his tally to four and extended Mallard’s lead to 5-2 and they never looked back and safely saw out time to claim victory.

The game was well refereed by Neil Taylor.
