MELKSHAM Town roared through to the second round of the FA Vase on Saturday thanks to a dominant first-half display in a 3-0 win away at Wessex League side Bournemouth.

Gary Higdon fired Darren Perrin’s side inside the opening minute at Victoria Park before the striker doubled the lead on the half-hour mark.

Dan Kovacs got Melksham’s third goal 10 minutes before the break to kill off the tie as the visitors saw them game out with ease in the second half.

Devizes Town saw their own Vase campaign ended in a home defeat at the hands of Toolstation League rivals Gillingham Town, going down by the same 3-0 scoreline.

There was also home woe for Calne Town as they were beaten 2-0 by visiting Torpoint Athletic, who ply their trade in the South West Peninsula League, at Bremhill View.

Melksham will be on the road again in the second round following this afternoon's draw at travel to Combined Counties League side Hartley Wintney on Saturday, November 12.

Fellow Toolstation Premier side Bradford Town are away at Brimscombe & Thrupp, of the Hellenic League.
