THE inaugural Barbury International Racing Club point-to-point meeting at Barbury Racecourse takes place this Saturday.
The fixture has been designed to encourage the development of young horses in the sport and promises to deliver some hot competition.
Organisers are delighted with a total entry of 166 – including 14 horses from Ireland.
All races are open to Irish-qualified horses and riders, and to horses trained professionally in the UK who meet point-to-point eligibility criteria.
As additional incentives to run, Tattersalls Ireland are offering wildcard entries to its Cheltenham Select Sale on Saturday, January 28, to all winners at the meeting and a £75 allowance will be given to any unplaced horse travelling more than 200 miles.
In addition to the individual race prizes, awards will be presented to the leading rider on the day and the leading trainer, while a selected panel of judges will decide who will win the outstanding performance award.
Entry is £10 per adult on the day and children under 18 go free.
