BRADFORD Town were able to convert their league form into the Les Phillips Cup in midweek as they progressed with a 2-0 first-round win at Brislington.

Kane Simpson got Danny Greaves’ men off the mark when he found the net in the opening 20 minutes.

The visitors held that advantage until the 66th minute, when Rickie Scott popped up to double the lead and seal victory.

Bradford boss Greaves reckoned it was a good result, even if his team did make it hard on themselves.

“It should have been a routine win. We started the game really well and played some really good football,” said Greaves.

“We created loads of chances but we didn’t take them, and then it becomes a bit of a difficult game.

“This time, we didn’t concede but it still turned out to be a tougher game than it should have been really.

“The good thing is we are creating a lot of chances but our finishing probably isn’t as clinical as it can be.

The victory followed up Saturday’s 5-0 success at Chipping Sodbury Town, which kept Greaves' men fifth in the Toolstation League Premier Division.

This weekend’s game against bottom-of-the-league Hallen will see Bradford return to Trowbridge Road after three away outings and their manager is eager to make home advantage count as his troops bid for a fourth consecutive victory.

“I think everyone is going to see that fixture as a banker of a three points because they are bottom and they haven’t picked up many points this season,” added Greaves.

“But these are the type of games where you can be unstuck, if you don’t prepare properly and you turn up thinking it is going to comfortable.

“It doesn’t matter who you are playing in this league. Whether it is a team at the top or the bottom; they’re all hard games.

“It’ll be nice to be back on home soil. We have had three tough games away from home in the last 10 days, so hopefully we can get another three points.”
