FROME Town manager Josh Jeffries was frustrated with his side after they threw away a two-goal lead to draw with St Ives Town.

After taking the lead in the first half through Sam Teale and George Miller, a dismal second-half display allowed the visitors’ Charlie De’ath to cut the lead in the 68th minute before Josh Dawkins completed the comeback with the last kick of the game.

The result means Frome are now seventh, two points behind Banbury United, who have played a game more.

Jeffries admits his team could be the victims of their own success after taking some time to reflect on the result.

“I was really disappointed with the result and I told the players that after the game,” said the Frome boss.

“The second half wasn’t good enough. For whatever reason, they just didn’t come out and it isn’t acceptable.

“But now I’ve calmed down after a couple of days and you see the bigger picture.

“It’s because they set their standards so high – it makes it even more frustrating when they don’t perform like we know they can.

“These are the games which are the reason the sides above us are above us. They get the job done.”

Jeffries acknowledges all is not lost as long as his side go to Hitchin Town on Saturday.

“We’ve drawn a game of football. Normally, we will be happy with that but because we set our standards so high, it makes it more frustrating,” he added.

“You sit back and look at the overall picture and it is good really. Our home form is incredible and it is another unbeaten game at home, so I can’t complain.

“I told them I want a reaction, so hopefully we will get that and go back to what we are used to.’’
