BRAD Scott broke down in tears after his victory over Scott Ashkam on Saturday night and revealed his belief that he had just saved his UFC career.
At UFC Fight Night 107, the 27-year-old, from Melksham, claimed a split decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28) over his fellow Brit at London’s O2 Arena, claiming his third win on the world’s biggest mixed martial arts promotion.
In his post-fight press conference, an emotional Scott confirmed that he suspected that the loser of his showdown with Ashkam would be dropped from the UFC and explained his relief at having not turned his back on the fight game.
“I was going to give up,” said Scott.
“It’s just a relief. There was a lot of pressure. I was going give it up but I’m so glad I didn’t.
“I dug deep and managed to get the win.”
Injuries have blighted Scott’s career, with the Melksham man having managed just one fight a year since 2013.
The Wiltshire fighter revealed that he had picked up a shoulder injury on the way to defeating Ashkam but says that he would battle on in the Octagon until his dying breath.
Scott added:” “I don’t care who I fight (or) where I fight.
“I just need to rest up (and) get my shoulder ready. I’ve got no fear. If I die in there, I die.”
