A 6-2 VICTORY for FC Bradford at Old Road FC means that Wayne Duggan’s side are in pole positon to finish as Group D winners of the Gooding Accounts-sponsored Subsidiary Cup and look all set to book a semi-final spot in the competition.

Matty Poole put Old Road ahead with a sublime individual effort, an own goal from Sean Watson drawing Bradford level.

A wonderful strike from outside the area from Jimmy Meade gave Bradford a 2-1 lead but Old Road levelled when Zak Sallows rounded the keeper after a great through ball by Rory Smith to make it 2-2.

An excellent performance by Old Road stand-in keeper Will Green kept his team in the contest, but Bradford pushed on to score four more goals in the second half to run out 6-2 winners, Arran Thornton, Steve Bryant, Lee Ridout and Mark Maguire all found the net.

FC North Wiltshire overturned a 2-0 deficit to beat The Foresters Arms 3-2. Sean Horobin and David Williams saw their goals count for nothing as Ryan Day from the penalty spot and Richard Tandy’s double earned North Wilts their comeback win.

Bremhill View defeated local rivals North Star Club 7-3 to take over the top spot in Group A from Faded FC, who they will meet in a winner-takes-all decider in a fortnight’s time for a place in the last four.

Kieron Gleed, Clive McDaid and Billy Gleed shared the first half goals for Bremhill who were 3-2 up at the break, an own goal from Pete Thornton and a Paul Green penalty keeping North Star in the game.

After the break, a further three from Kieron Gleed saw him complete a four-timer and a goal from Thornton, this time in the right net, made up Bremhill’s tally. Jake Mizen scored the third Star goal.

Semington FC began their Subsidiary Cup adventure with a 5-0 victory at Sutton Benger, whose defeat leaves them bottom of Group C.

Ricky King scored the only goal of the first half with a header from 12 yards out from a Dan Rimmer cross.

Chris Dore made it 2-0 on the hour, smashing home from close range after more good work from Rimmer and Lee Stripe made it 3-0 after following up after Benger keeper Tom Bull had made a stunning double save from Cameron Evans.

Dore got his second of the morning with a fine finish from 18 yards out before Stripe finished the scoring from close range.

Calne BFC, who were among the sides expected to do well in the competition, saw their hopes of success ended by Westbury Conservative Club, whose 6-3 win over their first division opponents means that when they meet Oakhill in a fortnight’s time the winner will progress to the knockout stage.

Westbury led 2-0 via goals from Owen Hunter and Steve Ball before Calne got back into the game with a stunning Darren Holcombe effort who scored from the halfway line.

A second from Hunter and a John Williams goals put Westbury 4-1 up before Calne went four up front and the change reaped dividends as goals from Dean Fry and Arran Tyler reduced the gap to the odd goal.

With Calne hunting an equaliser they were caught on the break first by Connor Stevens and then Ryan Underwood as Westbury wrapped up an unexpected but deserved win.

Oakhill are level on six points with Westbury Conservative Club after they came from behind to beat Forest AFC 5-3.

Jordan Tarrant, from the penalty spot, and Josh Beard scored to put Oakhill 2-1 up after Brentley Roberts had given Forest the lead.

A Kez Mooney double stretched Oakhill’s lead to 4-1 before Forest narrowed the gap to the odd goal with a Roberts penalty and a cheeky chip from Harry Brennand to make things interesting.

Kieran Tarrant sealed Oakhill’s win with a fifth late on.
