CHIPPENHAM Town hit the 100-points mark and now need to win against St Ives next Saturday to set a Southern League Premier Division points record.

Manager Mark Collier made five changes from 48 hours earlier as he gave a game to several fringe players.

The first chance fell to the Bluebirds on 11 minutes when a long clearance from keeper Darren Chitty found Jake Andrews but he skied his shot, as he did with another effort less than a minute later.

Frome’s first chance fell on the quarter-of-an-hour mark when Mikey Bryant, who had scored in the corresponding match at Hardenhuish Park, saw his close-range header superbly tipped over the bar by Chitty.

Five minutes later, Chris Allen, making his first start since re-signing from Weymouth, shot wastefully wide when better options were open to him.

The game then went into a lull until the 36th minute when Jon Beeden headed over from a Michael Pook corner. A minute later, Beeden repeated the feat but this time from an Andrews corner.

On 41 minutes, Frome’s Kris Miller saw his 25-yard shot go wide. Three minutes later, Chitty again did well when he dived at the feet of Jake Jackson to snatch the ball.

Two minutes after the break, Jackson went close as he headed against the bar before scuffing the loose ball wide. Two minutes later, Matt Jones laid the ball back to Allen, who again shot high.

That was followed by a long shot from distance from Nuno Felix that was always rising over the bar, before Andrews had a shot charged down.

The decisive goal came on 53 minutes as Andrews chased a ball that was heading out the side of the area he was needlessly pushed over. The on-loan Bristol City youngster converted the resultant penalty himself, his fourth success from the spot.

Marcus Mapstone headed over a George Miller corner before Frome’s claims for a clear handball against Beeden in the area were turned down as the Bluebirds centre-back was clearly pushed.

Chitty then easily held a shot from Clayton Green, whilst a shot from Andrews from the edge of the area just curled wide.

On 69 minutes, Dave Pratt’s shot from a tight angle lacked the power to beat Kyle Phillips at his near post. Andrews then saw his free-kick from a central position clear the bar.

Jackson won the ball on the edge of the area but shot high whilst the final chance of the game fell to Jones on 88 minutes but Phillips was equal to it.

Chippenham have announced that spectators paying to watch the final game of this season at home to St Ives on Saturday, will be issued with a voucher that will entitle them to a 50% discount for the first home match of next season in the National South League.
