TROWBRIDGE boxer Nick Blackwell’s is making steady progress in his recovery, according to reports.

Blackwell’s first injury came in his British middleweight title defeat to Chris Eubank Jr in March last year.

The 26-year-old then suffered his second brain injury during a sparring session towards the end of 2016 Blackwell’s younger brother Dan has told World Boxing News that the former British champion has made ‘small improvements’ since his second injury.

“Nick is doing OK. He’s talking a lot better now and he has been making progress with his walking,” Blackwell told World Boxing News.

“In the last six weeks, Nick has been improving by the week and right now we are just hoping he carries on with that improvement in the future.”

When asked about whether Nick would make a full recovery, Dan admits nobody knows for sure.

“They don't know. Nobody can tell what the final outcome is going to be for Nick,” he added.

“The brain is just too complicated to understand and we just have to take each day as it comes. We hope the improvement continues for Nick.”
