SHELDON School’s Joe Collins continued his scintillating form with a victory at the in the South West Schools’ Championships in Exeter on Saturday.

Collins broke 14 seconds for the first time to win the Wiltshire Schools’ 100m hurdles title the previous weekend before clocking 13.59 seconds to lift him into the top 10 of the U17 UK Rankings.

Sam Roberts clocked a PB of 15.47 to win the senior boys’ 100m hurdles and there were PBs for both Ellie Mount (11.38) and Tabitha Green (11.73) for a one-two in the junior girls 75 hurdles.

Another Sheldon School student in top form was Jake Burkey. He soared to a PB of 6.78m to win the senior boys’ long jump.

There were also bronze medals for Marin Olech (inter boys’ long jump), Angus Tudsbey (senior boys’ triple jump), Aaron Campbell (inter boys’ triple jump with a PB of 12.80m) and Kiran Carter (junior boys’ triple jump).

Zoe Mattacks was also in great form as she sped to a PB of 12.38 to win the senior girls’ 100m and there also bronze medals for Louis Torto in the senior boys’ 200m, with a PB of 22.35 and Imogen Leakey in the junior girls’ 100m (a PB of 12.98).

In the middle distances, twins John and Robert Howorth of St Augustine Catholic College finished second and third respectively in the senior boys’ 800m while younger brother Rory won the inter boys’ 400m hurdles.

Matravers School student Hayden Bayley won the inter boys’ 800m and Lucy Fitzpatrick ran a PB of 11:47.17 for third in the inter girls’ 3000m.

In the inter girls’ 1500m steeplechase John off Gaunt School’s Caitlin Wosika improved her PB to 5.00.25 for second place.

In the throws, Robert Jedrzejczak won the inter boys’ discus with a PB of 41.39m and Ella Adams was second in the senior girls’ hammer with a PB of 33.38m.
