TROWBRIDGE can claim the WEPL Wiltshire title this coming weekend after extending their record to 11 wins from 15 games this summer with a nine-wicket drubbing of bottom side Calne.

Mike Reynolds’ men are now 44 points clear of second-placed Marshfield and will be crowned champions with another solid points haul on their trip to Swindon.

The latest success was built on inspired bowling as Brad Angell (4-27) and Reynolds (3-27) limited the visitors to 111 all out in 33 overs.

Although Calne’s Darren Holcombe took the wicket of Tom Weaver in the first over of Trowbridge’s reply, that was the only breakthrough as Billy Cookson (48 not out) and Matthew Hopkins (46 not out) saw Trowbridge home on 112-1 in 13 overs.

Warminster have now fallen further back in their chase for a runners-up finish and are 31 points behind second-placed Marshfield after they were beaten by six wickets at home to Marlborough.

Jack Berrisford hit 51 but Marlborough restricted their hosts to 169 all out before Peter Day (70 not out) and Harrison Painter (56) led the away side to victory in the 46th over of their reply, finishing on 173-4.
