WITH Warminster Wanderers already through to the knockout stages of this season’s Dave Wolf Construction Ltd-sponsored Subsidiary Cup in the Shoestrings Chargrill Chippenham & District Sunday League, North Star Club will be hoping that their 5-0 success over local rivals White Hart in Group 1 of Pool B will be good enough to see them through to the last eight as one of the best placed runners-up.

Billy Gleed helped himself to two goals and Charlie Austin, Kieron Gleed and Matthew Snudden all got one each.

Bromham took on Calne United in a winner-takes-all encounter. Locked together on six points at the top of the Group B and knowing whoever emerged victorious would make it to the quarter-finals, it was Bromham who battled to a 3-1 success.

Edward Summers started the scoring with two goals for Bromham. Five minutes from time Calne’s George Madden made it 2-1 but this was just too late as Ryan Bole made it 3-1 late on. The Pool A, Group 5 contest between Pheasant and FC Lacock was the former’s first outing in the competition and after their 6-0 win over the villagers, they will head to Corsham CC Wildcats, knowing that a victory will see them top the table.

Max Wyatt put Pheasant up 1-0 at half-time and Mark Dolman made it 2-0. Wyatt and Dolman then got their second goal each before Luke Fisher got in on the act to make it 5-0. Despite two penalty misses, Pheasant were still able to further add to their tally through Joseph Hylands.

Needing just a point from their Pool A, Group 7 game with FC Bradford to finish top of the table, Semington didn’t rest on their laurels as they earned a 4-2 win.

Semington took the lead through Chris Dore, who then turned provider for Andy Harrison. Bradford got a goal back before half-time through Damien Moran but Semington scored a third thanks to Rich Allum.

Bradford pulled another goal back through Lewis Stevens and should have equalised from the spot but Semington keeper Jamie Hutton pulled off a great save and they then wrapped up the win as Allum got his second.

Premier Division

Calne BFC were looking to bounce back from last week’s defeat to Melksham Town (Sunday) when they hosted Corsham CC Wildcats on Thursday evening but an 8-3 defeat was not the ideal outcome.

The Cats’ goal getters were Sammy Jordan and Garry Lock with two each, while Zac Hillier, Adam Mitchell and Joe King all got one, with the haul completed by an own goal. Ail Duncan, Jamie Lloyd Davies and Chris Pitman replied.

Division One

Having missed out on a fixture at the weekend and playing their first league match since the end of January, leaders FC North Wiltshire looked as if they hadn’t been away in a 4-1 triumph away at Westbury Cons.

North Wilts took the lead via an own goal and two more efforts then came in succession from Cameron Lee before Aaron Leask made it 4-0.

Westbury’s Ryan Underwood got one back but this was just a consolation.

A 1-0 victory for Bath Road over Sutton Benger eased their own relegation worries, while leaving their opponents dangling above the drop zone. Matt Holdaway got the only goal.

Division Two

FC Libby slumped to a defeat, going down 7-1 away at The Castle Devizes, who still have an outside chance of nicking a top-two finish.

Castle’s Marcus Wallen got himself a hat-trick, while Gary Campbell, Jonathan Emm, Daniel Sloan and Joseph Unsworth were also on target. FC Libby’s scorer was Marcus Underwood.
