HOLT twice came from behind to lift the Gooding Accounts-sponsored Division Two Cup after an enthralling 3-2 final success against Heytesbury at Westbury United's Meadow Lane ground on Saturday.

Holt made a promising start with Ryan Bole warming keeper Sam Spratt’s hands on five minutes.

A few minutes later Bole broke clear and his shot was brilliantly kept out by Spratt.

Holt’s keeper bravely denied Jamie Howse on 17 minutes and Steve Fox cleared off the line to keep it at 0-0 moments after Mark Maguire headed over from close range.

On the stroke of half-time Josh Magiure was left unmarked from another corner, but headed wide when he should really have hit the target.

Heytesbury went straight up the other end and from a corner of their own the ball fell to Chris Baker who took one touch and the rifled home from 25 yards beyond a despairing Dan Mercer to give Heytesbury the interval lead.

Holt got back on level terms on 53 minutes, Otis Young driving home a spectacular 22-yard free kick despite the best efforts of keeper Spratt.

As the game went from end to end, half-chances falling to both teams, Holt should have added a second on 66 minutes, but Carl Davies dwelt too long on the ball and was denied by a fine block.

The ball was played upfield to Bradley Edwards who played in Jamie Howse who, after rounding keeper, calmly slotted home to give Heytesbury the lead back.

From the restart the lively Young was upended in the area by Bradley Edwards and Young picked himself up and thumped the resulting penalty beyond Spratt to see parity restored.

Heytesbury went in search of a third and thought they got it, but Lasse DeBlitz was on hand to head a goal-bound effort off the line on 82 minutes.

After that it was the turn of Holt to put pressure on the Heytesbury goal. Both Bole and John Baker were denied by keeper Spratt.

But after with a last throw of the dice, a Carl Davies corner picked out Deblitz whose powerful headed sealed Holt their 3-2 success.

Holt’s two-goal hero Young picked up the player of the final award, from league secretary Colin Kennerson, who also presented both teams with their match day mementoes and winning captain Jiordan Burrell-Mendi with the Division Two Cup.
