TEAM Proto-Col Multisport's fantastic start to the season continued this weekend with more age group titles from juniors through to veterans.

Trowbridge-based triathlete Kenny Brown backed up his recent qualification to the European Biathle Championships, by winning the 60-65 age group title at the International Olympic Distance Triathlon in Mallorca.

He now prepares for the GB Age Group Triathlon Team qualifying event that takes place at the end of May at the Olympic rowing regatta course at Dorney Lake.

At the Immortal Half Ironman Distance race, Innes Wright finished second in his age category as he prepares for the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in South Africa later this year.

Innes set the tone for his race with a strong 28-minute 1.9km swim in the ornamental lakes at Stourhead. After a strong 90km bike ride, Innes pushed hard on the 21km run and was only just beaten into second in his class, by a couple of minutes.

Another Vet athlete, Graham Martin, headed up to Durrington Sprint Triathlon.

Taking part as a training race in preparation for his main target race the Windsor Triathlon in June, Martin put together a strong performance to win the O60 age group title and finish in the top 30 overall.

At the other end of the age spectrum, Caitlin Wosika competed in the first round of the GB Elite Junior Triathlon Super Series. Against the best in the country, she finished in 22nd overall.

Wosika backed that up by winning the 3,000m title at the Wiltshire Track & Field Championships.

Team Proto-Col’s juniors train on Sunday afternoons using some of the best local facilities, including Dauntsey’s School, Trowbridge swimming pool, Odd Down bike track and several open water swimming venues.

Sessions cater for age groups from seven and above.
