WARMINSTER Town U16s will compete in the National Futsal Championships after claiming victory at the South West of England finals at the weekend.
The team travelled to Devon as Wiltshire representatives and set the tone by winning their first game 5-0, despite losing their goalkeeper to injury.
The second game was a hard-fought 0-0 draw before the next was won 3-2, meaning Warminster needed another victory in their final game as a draw would send their opponents through on goal difference.
Warminster fell behind early on but Jake Wright’s excellent finish levelled matters before the same player made it 2-1.
The scores were soon level again, setting up a tense finish but Warminster bagged the winner when Wright found Jake Small to hammer into the top corner and seal a place at the nationals.
