IT WAS double success for Trowbridge and Westbury at the weekend as they were both able to record victories in the latest round of Prem Two Glos/Wilts fixtures.

Trowbridge skipper Tom Weaver won the toss and chose to start the day out in the field as they played host to Rockhampton.

Taking to the field looked to be a good decision from the home side, as they rattled their way through Rockhampton’s order.

Trowbridge and particularly Weaver were impressive with the ball, dispatching the away side for 125 as the Trowbridge chief reeled in a four-wicket haul.

Scott Mitchell was also prolific for the hosts, he chipped in with a trio, as Tom Lloyd registered a solitary effort.

Neither side had made a blistering start to their league campaigns as Trowbridge went in with a record of two defeats and one tie.

Rockhampton were perhaps even more desperate for a victory with them and Lechlade the only two teams who are still waiting for their first win of the year.

Weaver’s men had been set a target of 126 and soon got to work, reaching 38 before the loss of their wicket when opener Billy Cookson fell.

With his team moving in the right direction, Weaver will be slightly disappointed with his own batting display after being bowled out for a golden duck, taking his troops to 56-3.

However, the hosts showed little concern as they posted 126 with five wickets to spare. John Carroll was the highest scoring batsman for Trowbridge, with a tally of 40, earning the club their first win of the season.

Elsewhere, Westbury were also successful on home turf at the weekend as they saw off Corsham in a 50-run win.

The visitors won the toss and also elected to begin proceedingson the field as Westbury went about trying to raise a decent total.

Skipper Alex Senneck and Dan Gillprovided the bulk of their runs with the captain’s unbeaten 50 and the latter recording 54.

At 181 Westbury were happy enough to hand the bat over to the away side, who struggled from the outset.

In truth, Westbury made light work of their Corsham counterparts, who looked as if they would struggle to breach the 100 mark as the scoreboard read 99-8.

Despite this, Corsham did manage a late rally, before being dismissed for 131 on Saturday afternoon.

Richard Mills got a trio of wickets for Senneck’s side, who will travel to Cheltenham this weekend with the aim to make it back-to-back wins for the first time this season.

Meanwhile, Trowbridge will also be on the hunt for consecutive victories at the first time of asking, they visit Biddestone.
