BRADFORD Town chairman Mark Hodkinson believes the club have found the right man to take the helm after announcing Rob Mallett as their new manager.

The Toolstation League Premier Division side confirmed the appointment on social media after previous manager Danny Greaves made the switch to join Frome Town in the Southern League.

Mallett may be a familiar name to some of Bradford’s more loyal fans, as he was most recently at Cadbury Heath before they parted ways a month ago.

Reinvigorated after his short break, Hodkinson believes Mallett is the man Bradford need to continue their progression.

“He has managed in the league before, so I think that is always a plus because he has knowledge of football in the area,” said Hodkinson, who was delighted the club made a quick appointment.

“He was recommended to us, which is a good sign, I think that goes a long way and his interview was fantastic.

“He’s very enthusiastic. He can’t wait to get started, I know he has been messaging some of the players to get things in place.

“We were desperate to get someone in place this week because other clubs start circling round players like vultures when a club is down a little bit.

“It wasn’t a rushed decision, we just thought it was important to get someone in before the players started to wander.”

Speaking to the Wiltshire Times, Mallett says he feels grateful to receive the opportunity and is looking forward to getting down to work at Trowbridge Road.

Mallett also claims he is looking to further enhance the work of Greaves, as he aims to implement a similar style of play at the club.

“I realise what a sought-after job this probably was, so I’m delighted to be given this opportunity,” said Mallett.

“Over the last couple of years, I have seen Bradford grow both on and off the pitch and we want that to continue.

“The support they get both home and away is top class, and I’m really looking forward to leading the club.

“The brand of football played is refreshing to see at this level and is very much something we’ll be looking to continue.

“There is a top bunch of lads here at the club who’ve got ability, character and team spirit.

“My number one aim will be keeping as much of the group together as possible and building from there.”
