WILTSHIRE'S hopes of an opening Unicorns Championship Western Division victory of the season ended amid a batting collapse at Corsham today.

The home side resumed their second innings at 44-3 on the final day of their three-day encounter, needing 150 more runs to defeat the defending champions.

However, they quickly lost skipper Ed Young as play restarted and their final seven wickets fell for just 76 runs as they collapsed to 118 all out and a 75-run defeat.

The damage was done by Berkshire's Chris Peploe, who ended with 5-18 from 19.1 overs, while Alexander Russell ended with 3-60.

Only one of Wiltshire's batsmen reached double figures today, Jack Mynott making 39 as the hoists slumped to their second championship defeat of the season.
