Safety first for new recruits

2:04pm Friday 2nd June 2006

TRAMPOLINING: WARMINSTER Trampoline Club held their first open event on Saturday.

The event was open to all members of the public, the aim being to try to encourage children into the sport as well as show them the basics of trampoline safety.

More than 30 children and adults attended the event, which was staffed by fully qualified British Gymnastics coaches. Everyone who attended was given a free half hour lesson, introducing the basics and showing them how to enjoy bouncing safely.

Jo Skeates, club chairman and coach, said: "We were overwhelmed by the response to our adverts for this event. "It was great to see so many people coming in to the sports centre and having a go at a new sport in a safe and fun environment.

"With the rise in sales of outdoor trampolines we are very aware as a club that we should do all we can to push safety first. "Trampolining is a great sport and if done correctly can be incredibly rewarding, to which our development squad would testify.

"We hope that everyone enjoyed the event and that they have been made more aware of how to use a trampoline safely."

The club caters for all ages and abilities, from recreational to development. If you would like to learn more about lessons call Warminster Sports Centre on 01985 212946.
