CARL Clarke’s Warminster suffered their second successive defeat as they lost by five wickets to Premier Two strugglers Ashcott & Shapwick.
The hosts won the toss and chose to bat first, with David Bateman top-scoring with 38.
Skipper Clarke hit 30 while Andy Fellows made 22. Mark Coxon-Tenty and opener Miikee Selmes both made 16 but Ashcott’s James Hayman stifled the run-chase as he claimed three wickets.
Nayan Karmarkar and Tom Barr took a further two each as Warminster were all out for 158 in the 45th over.
William Rudge led the way with the bat for the visitors, hitting 44.
Ben and Dan Rudge then put together an unbeaten partnership of 46, while Steve Tinnion added 20. Harry Medhurst took two wickets but Ashcott reached 159-5 in the 48th over.
Fourth-placed Warminster will be aiming to bounce back and make a claim for local bragging rights when they travel to take on close rivals Westbury tomorrow.
