CORSHAM Town Reserves replaced rivals Calne Town at the top of the Premier Division after beating them 3-0 at Bremhill View, writes RAY BURROUGHS.

It was the first defeat of the season for the home outfit who had gone 10 games unbeaten.

Corsham got off to a good start with Craig Fullam finding the net with a stunning strike from 25 yard after just a couple of minutes.

Calne fought back and had a couple of half chances before the visitors doubled their lead through James Lye, who had a simple tap-in from close range.

After the interval Calne never really looked like getting back into the game and Simon Grey finally settled the issue with a third goal, again from close range, following a corner.

FC Chippenham Youth were always on top against their Swindon visitors Moredon Cheney, running out winners 6-1, courtesy of two goals apiece from Mark Nolan and Ajay Arithoppan, one from Kane Kauppinen and an own goal.

Chippenham boss Dave Ferris said: “We were 5-1 up when Moredon had two players sent off but to be fair to them they battled on really well, when some sides would have folded.”

Shrewton, who are beginning to get their season going, welcomed back a couple of regulars from injury and turned in their best performance of the season to beat AFC Bradford 3-1 on their own ground.

Alonso Russell scored twice in the first half and Andy Hiscock made sure of victory with a second-half penalty.

Mark Robinson was on target for the home side.

Bottom club Vale Of Pewsey fought hard at Wilton before going down 2-1.

Wroughton fielded eight members of their U18 side against Devizes and the youngsters turned in a good performance to beat the visitors 4-1.

Michael McCluskey got the home side off to a good start with an early strike, followed by a second from the senior members of the side, Curtis Arnold crossing for Kevin Priest to find the net with a good header.

After the break Oliver Armstrong and John Mann added further goals and lift them out of the bottom four in the table.

Wroughton boss Wayne Long said: “It was a great result. All the young players showed up well helped by a few older heads in the side and bodes well for the future.”

AFC N’Power and Marlborough Town looked likely to share the spoils with both sides having scored twice and the game entering the closing stages.

However, the home side's Paul O’Connell had different ideas and snatched the winner inside the last 10 minutes to give his side a 3-2 victory.
