HELLENIC LEAGUE DIVISION ONE WEST: Bees belief is a bonus for Alford

5:10pm Friday 27th January 2012

TROWBRIDGE Town boss Mike Alford has urged his players to be proud of playing for their club and show more of the determination that saw them earn a point at New College Swindon last weekend.

Brett Partner lobbed the New College keeper early on to put the Bees ahead but the hosts struck back with goals from Nathan Blackford and Josh Skeates.

With around 10 minutes to go, Neil Grant played a one-two with Ian Grovers and poked home the equaliser as Trowbridge came from behind to secure a result for the first time this season.

“We spoke before the game about having that desire to work for one another and having that pride in the shirt,” said Bees chief Alford.

“We’re at the bottom of the table and the only ones who can drag us out of that situation are ourselves.

“It was a good performance, especially after the disappointment last week (a 4-0 loss to Milton United in the Hellenic League Supplementary Cup) and we definitely deserved the draw. We could have won it with the last kick of the game but the shot (from Emilio Menghini) was just over.”

Trowbridge are five points behind second-from-bottom Carterton.

Defender Shaun Fordham is suspended for tomorrow’s home clash with Winterbourne United.
