WITH The Lamb already through to the Wiltshire Junior Cup semi-finals, Seend United knew that they would set up a meeting with Richard Stevens' side in the last four if they could do what no other team had done this season and beat Dorset League first division high flyers Mere Town. Seend, who went into the game as massive underdogs, upset the odds as they claimed a 1-0 victory over their hosts who had not lost in 43 games.
Joe Flower may have scored the only goal of the game when he put Seend in front on 15 minutes but their villagers' victory owed much to a great performance from all 11 players who held onto their slender lead under constant pressure from the home side.
Seend will now play the Lamb at Meadow Lane, Westbury on Saturay, March 10 for a place in the Junior Cup final.
