FOR the first time in their season’s Somerset Junior Cup defending champions Freshford United found themselves with an away tie.
Hughie Fulton’s men were on the road at Keinton Manderville, who are currently struggling at the foot of the Yeovil & District League Premier Division.
Freshford overcame their stubborn opponents and atrocious conditions to claim a 3-2 success and their place in the semi-finals of the competition they won last May when they beat Middlezoy Rovers 1-0.
Andy Donald put Freshford ahead when he scored from the penalty spot.
Keinton drew level but found themselves 2-1 at the interval after a stunning 40 yard strike from Sam Elkins gave the holders a 2-1 lead.
Freshford were pegged back within a couple of minutes of the restart and although both sides had chances to take the lead it was Freshford who finally made the all-important breakthrough 10 minutes from time.
Andy Donald lashed home a wonder strike from the edge of the 18 yard area and across the face of goal into the top of the Keinton net.
