GOLF: Wiltshire's Stow through to matchplay stages at British Amateur

BEN Stow booked his place in the matchplay stages of the British Amateur Championship at Royal Troon today.

The Wiltshire county player, from East Knoyle near Warminster, added a second-round 73 to his opening 71 at Glasgow-Gailes Links yesterday to finish tied 39th, on two over par.

Stow faces Paul Ferrier (Baberton) in the last 64 on Wednesday morning.

The three other Wiltshire players involved in the championship made early exits.

Josh Loughrey (Wrag Barn) shot 71 to add to his opening-round 78, while older brother Ben carded a 76 at Glasgow-Gailes to also finish seven over par overall.

Jordan Smith (Bowood) improved after his first-round 80 with 72.
