DIVISION FOUR PREVIEW: Old Road seek back-to-back victories

HAVING kicked off their campaign with an impressive 7-0 victory at Pig & Whistle United B last weekend, Old Road will be hoping for very much of the same when they visit a Crossblades side who suffered an opening day defeat.

Honours were shared last term with one win apiece so this looks likely to be another closely-fought game and if Old Road could secure the points it would be the first time since February 2011 that they have managed back-to-back wins.

FC North Wiltshire will be out to build on last weeks 9-0 mauling of Worton & Cheverell (Sunday) when they host another of the League’s six newcomers this weekend.

Pig & Whistle United B travel to Leafy Lane on the back of a 7-0 loss and it will take a massive improvement for them to avoid another heavy loss against their hosts, who are tipped to do well this term.

FC United of Chippenham entertain fellow new boys Melksham Cosmos in what will be their first outing of the season.

Cosmos made the perfect start with a hard-fought victory over Trowbridge Town Supporters Club and they would love to make it two wins on the bounce against United’s youngsters.

With the hosts being an unknown quantity the result is hard to call but Cosmos may just nick maximum points.

Paul Goddard’s Trowbridge Rangers host another of the league’s newcomers in Worton & Cheverell, whose manager Chris Cole will be hoping that they can recover from their opening-day mauling at the hands of North Wiltshire.

Rangers' opener with a win at Oakhill so they should be brimming with confidence and that should be enough to help them to their second win of what for them could be a good first season.

Trowbridge Town Supporters Club will host Oakhill and with both sides looking to get off the mark, the game at Bratton promises to be a thriller.

The supporters’ club are in the process of rebuilding and may take a time to gel but if they can get something from the game then manager Kevin Williams will be happy with his young charges, who should be able to get at least a point from their guests.
