RUGBY: Walcot 22 Corsham 40

NEW-LOOK Corsham made a storming start to the Southern Counties South victory with an impressive victory in Bath.

Despite shipping a try to their hosts early on Corsham, led by former Chippenham centre Karl Brant, fought their way back and Andy Williamson’s penalty got them on the board.

Full-back Henry Goldson continued to terrorise the home defence, teeing up a try for Brant that Williamson converted.

Corsham’s backline continued to impress and Goldson ran back a misplaced kick to set up Pete Hynes for his opening score.

Walcot took advantage of visiting indiscipline to go over from close range but the Corsham backs responded immediately with Mick Mealing linking to feed Hynes for his second, again converted by Williamson.

A Walcot penalty made it 22-15 to the visitors at half time, but Corsham really began to click in the secnd half, Williamson booting two penalties.

This was followed up by a hat-trick try for Hynes, who was now at full-back following an injury to Goldson, once again converted.

With Corsham linking well another try was inevitable and Henry Bush scored it.

Walcot hit back with another try late on after Henry Brown, who had joint the fray from the bench, was yellow-carded for a late late tackle which led to a final score for Walcot.
