DIVISION THREE: Three and easy for Pig against Fortune Inn
4:30pm Monday 17th September 2012 in Sport
FORTUNE Inn missed out on the outright lead at the top of Division Three after suffering a 3-0 defeat at Pig & Whistle United A, who claimed one of the results of the day.
Richard Allen’s side were well worth their two points that helped them claim back-to-back wins for the first time since February 2010.
Mark Bridger’s goal separated the sides at half time and Pig & Whistle would have expected a second-half fightback from Fortune in the second half.
But that never materialised as the hosts increased their lead when Paul Matthews added number two from the penalty spot.
Fortune, who had only failed to score once before in their previous 24 games, were unable to break down a rock-solid United defence who wrapped up a deserved win when Simon Watham added their third to make it 3-0 and seal an amazing triumph.
North Star B 0 PSC Galaxy 6
A MISFIRING North Star B, who are in desperate need of a proven goalscorer, suffered a third straight defeat after they were beaten 6-0 by title favourites PSC Galaxy whose win puts them on four points with a quartet of other sides.
In a first half that saw Leo Whitehead give Galaxy the lead North Star had chances of their own and could even have led their guests had they taken them.
However they didn’t and missed chances would come back to haunt them in the second half as Galaxy found they scoring boots to net five more time.
Whitehead added to his first-half effort, Steven House netted his second three timer in as many games and the scoring was completed by Jamie Bayes.
