PREMIER DIVISION PREVIEW: Super Sunday for Premier Division
1:00pm Friday 28th September 2012 in Sport
After last week's remarkable win over fierce rivals AFC Melksham, it’s a case of out of the frying pan and into the fire for FC Jager as next up for Barry Holloway’s side are defending S.K. Fruits Limited Chippenham Sunday League Premier Division champions Biddestone Social.
Jager welcome Biddestone to The Beeches in what could prove to be a vital game in this season's title race.
With Jager and Social both considered as teams that will be contending for the title come the end of the season, the winner of this game could make giant strides towards achieving just that.
Social will know that they can't afford to slip up following a two-point deduction, making this game a potential four-pointer.
With only eight teams in the division now, there's nowhere to hide as each and every game could swing the league wide open for a number of teams.
Jager and Social played each other in last season's Wiltshire Sunday Cup quarter-final, in which Jager ran out 5-3 winners in a thrilling game and went on to win the competition.
Social however, will not take their opponents so lightly this time and will be keen to avenge that loss from last season.
Social will probably be slight favourites for the win but it looks likely to be a close game full of attacking talent, so goals are expected.
Another mouthwatering contest is the match at Beversbrook, Calne, where Bug & Spider play hosts to FC Colerne, who will be looking for an immediate return to winning ways following their Knockout Cup defeat against first division Bradford Renegades a week ago.
Colerne will no doubt be reeling from the loss of the four points they suffered following the recent withdrawal of AFC Calne and if they are in the right frame of mind for the game, they have a good chance of collecting maximum points from what should be a close game.
The remaining fixture in the division should also be a thriller as over at Meadow Lane, Shaun Gardiner’s Westbury Rangers side welcome Mike Rogers' AFC Melksham outfit, who will be still at a loss as to how they threw away a 4-0 lead last weekend to lose to FC Jager.
Honours were shared last term with one win apiece and this match is likely to produce another thriller which could end in a goal fest, with the hosts probably just stealing the points.
