WILTSHIRE SPORTS AWARDS: Worth it for Elliot

DEVIZES Budo Club youngster Elliot Burbidge was certain that attending last week’s award ceremony was the right decision when he was named Young Sports Personality of the Year.
The 14-year-old, who lives in Melksham and also trains with Team Bath, is the British number one in the Year Eight, Nine and 10 U46kg category and claimed the national title at the British Schools Championship earlier this year.
“I didn’t know what to expect really and I was just dragged along by my mum,” said Burbidge.
“There were some good people nominated, so winning is really good.”
At the Red and Yellow Belt event in Worthing, there were golds for Josh Wareham (U43kgs) and Mattis Tremblay (U30kgs) while Isobel McKay took silver in the U32kgs event.
