CHIPPENHAM TOWN: 'We're doing our jobs', says Rudge
9:00am Sunday 30th September 2012 in Sport By Dan Barnes
BLUEBIRDS boss Nathan Rudge thinks that his side are beginning to add some positive momentum to their season.
Chippenham Town booked their place in Monday’s FA Trophy second qualifying round draw with a 4-0 win over local rivals Swindon Supermarine yesterday and made it three wins on the bounce in all competitions.
Rudge was delighted with his team’s performance against Marine and said: “The boys did great.
“I said to them a few weeks ago that if you keep doing the right things, you will turn the corner and we’re working hard at the moment.
“If you work hard, you’re going to get your rewards, and it was great – that’s three games on the trot now.
“It doesn’t matter who you’re playing, you’ve got to get your people doing exactly what they should be.
“Everyone knows their job – that’s what we work on- and when you’ve got eleven people doing their job, you’ll get a result.”
Rudge was also pleased with striker Dean Griffiths, who has bided his time for his first Chippenham start and repaid his manager’s faith with two goals against Marine, eleven days after he netted the winner against Bashley.
“Dean’s been knocking on my door like all of the players who haven’t been playing have been but unfortunately you can only keep eleven starters happy,” said Rudge.
“Dean’s come in and taken his chance and he hasn’t done his chances of starting again no harm, has he?
“He was a threat all afternoon – I had reports that they struggled against pace and I think it was pretty evident out there.”
With Bedford Town beating Grantham Town 2-0 in their FA Trophy clash yesterday, Tuesday night’s Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division clash between the two sides will go ahead at Hardenhuish Park.
Luke Ballinger should return to the squad after missing yesterday’s win through Engand Futsal duty.
