RUGBY: Corsham 22 Dorchester 11

CORSHAM made it three wins out of three in Southern Counties South as they ended Dorchester’s unbeaten start at Lacock Road.

The visitors were first on the board with a penalty from James Baker but Corsham upped their game and led by flanker Lewis Jones, the man of the match, hit back with a try from lock Mick Mealing.

A second Baker penalty put Dorchester back in front, but Corsham’s front row was beginning to dominate and, having been denied a try by an early referee’s whistle, number eight Ben Russell made no mistake second time around.

With centres Karl Brant and Dave Finlay breaking the line at regular intervals, Russell added a second try after half time, but back came Dorchester to score from a driving maul through Baker.

The visitors pounded the home line, but Corsham kept them at bay and broke out, resulting in a try for substitute scrum-half Will Chivers, Finlay converting.
