DIVISION FOUR PREVIEW: Crossblades seek season’s first points
12:00pm Friday 5th October 2012 in Sport
DESPITE a few promising performances this season Tim Chilton’s Crossblades side are currently bottom of the Division Four standings.
But they will be hoping that this week's meeting with league newcomers Trowbridge Rangers (Sunday) will present them with their first points of the campaign.
Rangers started with back-to-back victories, but two defeats on the bounce has seen them slip down the table.
However, James Goodard side are likely to return to winning ways with victory in what will probably be a low scoring contest.
Early pacesetters Old Road will be looking to maintain their excellent start to this campaign when they host a Melksham Cosmos side, who have won two of their three matches.
Old Road have been the division’s whipping for the past few seasons, but they have made a flying start this term and a fourth win of the season would maintain their incredible turnaround in form, as they only managed three victories in 20 in the previous campaign.
Pig & Whistle United B have made an indifferent start to their first season on the league. Adrian Skinner’s side have two wins and two defeats to their name and a visit to their Awdry Avenue base by FC United of Chippenham will present them with another tricky encounter which could go either way.
If there is to be a winner then the hosts may just have a slight edge but the match could produce the first drawn in the division this term as on paper both seem equally matched.
Sportzcoach Dragonz United’s two matches to date have both yielded maximum points so when Trowbridge Town Supporters Club arrive at Goatacre they will be looking to keep their fine start going.
Kevin Williams' visitors have hit some form in recent weeks and could prove hard to beat, especially as they won both meetings last term and have just lost once in four encounters with their hosts.
Goals have been a plenty in previous games between the sides but on this occasion the home team are tipped to win a low scoring contest.
