FOOTBALL: United's Vase lift
11:40am Friday 12th October 2012 in Sport
WESTBURY United boss Sam Gooding admits that any result in the FA Vase is a bonus for his side.
Westbury travel to Hampshire tomorrow to take one Wessex League Premier Division outfit Blackfield & Langley in the first round proper and the United boss said: “We’re going to be big underdogs but any result that we get in the FA competitions is a bonus because the league is the meat and drink.
“We’ll go down there and hopefully we can put in a good performance.”
On Saturday, Westbury’s Mark Young struck to cancel out Nick Holton’s opener as Gooding’s men fought out a 1-1 derby draw with Corsham Town.
The United manager added:“It was a dour game and there wasn’t a lot to write home about. I don’t think anyone could argue that a draw wasn’t fair result.”
