EVO-STIK LEAGUE SOUTHERN PREMIER DIVISION: Hitchin Town 2 Frome Town 0

IF Frome’s shooting accuracy had matched their endeavour, then they might well have earned something from this match.

But it was the home side that took their chances, for a 2-0 victory.

The match started with Frome having a lot of possession, but then Hitchin took the lead in the 28th minute with their first real attack, as some neat passing through the midfield allowed John Frendo to score with a composed finish.

Frome took then took the game to the hosts, and the 37th minute saw an incredible miss as Dean Evans managed to shoot wide from six yards out.

Frome started the second half well, but Hitchin then responded and a period of pressure saw  Lawrie Stewart slide in to give Darren Chitty no chance after a shot from the edge of the area came back off an upright.

With 20 minutes to play, Frome went looking for the elusive goal, but the chances that were created were snatched at  when a little more composure in front of goal could well have produced a different result.
