CHIPPENHAM SUNDAY LEAGUE DIVISION THREE PREVIEW: Buscots pull out of gladiatorial battle
4:00pm Friday 19th October 2012 in Sport
WHAT should have been the match of the day in Division Three between leaders FC Buscots and fourth-placed Fortune Inn scheduled for Stanley Park has been postponed due to Buscots being unable to raise a side.
Buoyed by their first win of the season last weekend, Christian Malford will be hoping that they can produce another special performance when host third-placed PSC Galaxy.
Malford will start as massive underdogs but the villagers always come good when they have been written off and this is one of those occasions.
Both Corsham Park Rangers and Pig & Whistle United A suffered their first league defeats of the campaign last weekend so they will be desperate for an immediate return to winning ways when they lock horns at Leafy Lane this Sunday.
Corsham took three points from their guests last term and they have a great chance of beating them once again.
But this new-look Pig side are no longer a pushover which should make for a great contest that could provide plenty of goals with Corsham tipped to take the points.
Bottom of the table North Star B will be hoping that they can end a nine-match losing run that goes back to early March when they host Pack Horse Rangers at Beversbrook.
Lee Lovelock’s side suffered a 10-4 loss when the teams met three weeks ago and it is really hard to see anything other than another victory for Paul Kidley’s visitors to leave North Star suffering a seventh defeat of the campaign.
Over at Priestly Grove in Calne, Talbot FC entertain Cavalier FC.
The visitors are currently in the bottom two and have yet to win a league game, but Roger Wiltshire’s side have only played two games so have plenty of matches left to get out of the danger zone.
Talbot are much improved on last term and they should get the better of their guests but with two draws from their five games to date this is another fixture which may end in stalemate.
